Owner Harry Hedaya is known in the Tampa Bay area mortgage business as the founder of the Loan Corp., home of the "easy-close loan." At the height of Florida's residential boom, Hedaya said the company employed more than 200 people amid annual sales of $18.8 million. It was good enough to earn it a spot on Entrepreneur magazine's top 500 list.
Hedaya also invested in the Landlord Academy, a Tampa company founded by Bryan Chavis. Hedaya told the Business Journal in 2006 that Loan Corp. was nearing $1 billion in closed loans and he had plenty of money to fund the academy's growth. That partnership ended after less than a year.
